Green Day singer is a fan of Nickelback

Sammy Hagar announced his new supergroup project in an Instagram post on Monday (Sept. 22nd), sharing a video that features him, Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger, and Tommy Lee. While details about the project are scarce, the former Van Halen frontman said that they are “just getting started.” Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong even commented, praising Nickelback’s lead singer.

“Okay, here we are. The three best singers in rock and roll,” Hagar joked in the video.

“And you say, ‘What are those three guys doing?’ Well, it’s hard to say,” he teased. “We’re just getting started. We’ll figure that out.”

In the caption of the video, Hagar wrote: “#WTF #chadkroeger @nickelback #tommylee  @motleycrue #???”

One person who seemingly can’t wait to hear what these three are working on is Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who commented on the post, writing: “Legends.”

Although not featured in Hagar’s Instagram video, Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante also seems to be involved in the project.

In an Instagram post of his own, Benante shared a photo of himself, Hagar, and Kroeger with the caption:

“When you get a call to come over and play drums on a song that these 2 are doing… you drop whatever it is and go.  What a spontaneous thing and so much fun. Thank you both #chadkroeger @sammyhagar @nickelback.”
