“Heated Rivalry,” the new hit Canadian show regarding a couple of hockey players in a secret relationship, has now caused a craze across the border in America as well.
Howard Stern talks about Heated Rivalry
On Tuesday, Howard spoke of learning about the phenomenon over dinner with friends.
“According to my gay friends, it’s like softcore p*rn,” he explained.
“It’s super graphic,” executive producer Gary Dell’Abate agreed.
“It doesn’t sound like a gay hockey show, it sounds like a romance — a love show with gay guys,” co-host Robin Quivers responded.
Howard observed that the series might have a new disciple in Robin. “All the women are loving it … I see you lighting up over there,” he teased.
“It’s time for your reawakening, Robin,” Gary added.
Recently, Storrie and his co-star Hudson Williams have been on a massive press run following the show’s runaway success, doing everything from presenting at the Golden Globes to making their respective debuts on late-night TV. Williams stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on January 7th, and on January 13th, Storrie appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
During the interview, Storrie and Meyers talked about his overnight stardom and the skills he learned for the show. As Russian hockey star Ilya Rozanov, Storrie had to learn several scenes in Russian, as well as perfect a Russian accent, a process that involved taking four hour-long lessons every day for a month and a half.
“I fully just assumed they had found a Russian-speaking actor for this part,” Meyers told Storrie.
Now, Storrie has a prepared response for people who believe he’s actually fluent in Russian: “My go-to, I always say in Russian, ‘I speak Russian really poorly.'”
