Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins joined Pearl Jam onstage at the Ohana Festival in Dana Point at Doheny State Beach.

Stephen Perkins was onstage with Pearl Jam to close the Ohana Festival. Eddie Vedder joked to a fan who wanted to drum on “Spin The Black Circle” earlier on that if they had a guest drummer, it’d be Stephen Perkins. The fan had a sign on Friday as well, and Vedder hilariously teased him saying he might have spelled his sign wrong, and that he probably still lives with his mother. He did say he respected his persistence.

Perkins was arm in arm with Pearl Jam at the end of the Ohana Festival after a tumultuous month with Jane’s Addiction. Jane’s Addiction’s reunion tour was canceled after Perry Farrell hit Dave Navarro in Boston a couple weeks back. Ironically enough, Jane’s Addiction performed at a festival at Doheny State Beach in 2012, with the late Taylor Hawkins joining the band onstage. Alanis Morissette played before Pearl Jam at Ohana for a stellar set, and Hawkins used to drum for Alanis in the 90’s.

Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery also played with Alanis in the 90’s. The 90’s alternative rock scene is definitely one extended family, so it was nice to see Pearl Jam, Stephen Perkins, and Alanis Morissette all on the Ohana stage. Vedder mentioned that he’d only briefly met Alanis once at a Tibetan freedom concert in the past, and he enjoyed getting to spend time with her for the first time on Sunday.
