This July, Black Sabbath will take the stage one last time, performing a farewell show in their hometown of Birmingham, UK. The massive event is also being billed as Ozzy Osbourne’s last ever performance, as the musician is battling Parkinson’s disease.

Along with Black Sabbath, the concert will feature sets by Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Billy Corgan, Sammy Hagar, Slash, Tom Morello, and many more.

Hosting the event is actor and musician Jason Momoa, who opened up to NME in a recent interview about participating in the show.

“When Sharon [Osbourne] asked me to host, I was blown away,” he said. “I’m just so excited to be there. It’s funny because I was, like, begging for tickets, and now I turn out to be hosting.”

Momoa went on to explain that he was originally set to attend the last show of Black Sabbath’s “The End” tour in 2017 after the filming of “Aquaman” concluded, but missed out after a family emergency forced him to fly home instead. “I was pretty bummed out about that, but Dad duties…”

While the actor has never met Ozzy Osbourne, he does have a bit of a connection to the musician. In 2020, when Ozzy released his solo album “Ordinary Man,” he was not well enough to film the video for the track “Scary Little Green Men,” so Momoa was asked to step in.

Elsewhere in the interview, Momoa admitted that the one album he always comes back to is Black Sabbath’s 1970 self-titled record.

“It just introduced me to everything. There are just so many [good songs] that it blows your mind. And then they came out with ‘Paranoid’ [six months later]. One year, two masterpieces. I’m a creature of habit. I still listen to all those songs every day,” he said.
