Rising from the south-coast of England, the Brighton-based six-piece band Creeping Jean are making waves in the indie rock scene. Their latest album, Business Is Dead, takes on a DIY ethos. Frontman Olly Tooze records and operates from his vintage clothing shop in Brighton, called “Mammoth”, and the album reflects the dual grind of a retail day job and underground band hustle.
Meanwhile, for fans of rock guitar mastery, Jimmy Page’s name is legendary. Yet over recent years, his musical activity has slowed dramatically. While he remains active in terms of archival projects and interviews, new collaborations or full-scale studio releases have been notably scarce.
Page participated in interviews and archival reissues, such as for his landmark collaboration with The Black Crowes. But his involvement for new music appears minimal.
Back in 1999–2000, Jimmy Page teamed with The Black Crowes for a memorable stint of live shows. The resulting album, Live at the Greek, captured Page revisiting classic Led Zeppelin material alongside the Crowes’ roots-rock approach.
The idea of Page aligning with a band like Creeping Jean generates excitement. Given Creeping Jean’s vintage rock sound and their status as a rising act, the visual of Jimmy Page observing or engaging with them is quite amusing for fans. The possibility of a fresh collaboration remains bleak, but the sighting at a Creeping Jean show, raises an intriguing “what if”.
