Josh Klinghoffer Reveals If He’d Want John Frusciante To Rejoin Red Hot Chili Peppers

In a recent Montreal radio interview, Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer was asked how he would react if John Frusciante called him and asked for his old job back.

“I mean, I don’t know, that’s a hypothetical. But that would be, well it would be weird, but that would be more something that would require a conversation with him and the other people in the band, not myself. He quit the band, he didn’t want to do this anymore, for good reasons.

He had done it and worked really hard for a long time, he didn’t want to live his life in the way that you have to when you’re in this band. Those guys did, so it’s very simple, that the band is not just going to fold just because he doesn’t want to do it, although some people may have wished that was the case.

Like I said, because I kind of knew and had a great respect for how this entire machine worked, I was able to kind of just become a part of it, and hopefully help it grow. There are times where I still feel like…I just hope that the new work we do, and the new music we do is as exciting to some people as some of the old stuff. I don’t know if that’s at all possible, some of the highs this band have achieved are just insurmountable.

I do think this band has done a good job of at least trying to create new ones, and hopefully it works. I’m surprised, if you had been talking to me at this point of the last tour, I don’t know if I would have been as optimistic.”
