Deen Castronovo Hints at Journey Departure
Journey drummer Deen Castronovo has fuelled talk of a possible exit from the band after its upcoming tour, suggesting the run could close out a decades-long arc that stretches back to his Bad English days with Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain.
In a social media statement reflecting on his gear and history with the group, Castronovo said he plans to “finish our 35+ year run in Journey” behind a purple pearlescent drum kit he first chose in 1988.
Castronovo also shared an anecdote from the Bad English era, recalling that a truck carrying the band’s equipment was stolen during sessions for the second record, taking his original kit along with some of Mr. Schon’s guitars and amps. He ended the message by telling fans he would see them “out there in eight days.”
The comments arrive as Journey’s wider line-up picture remains a talking point among fans, following recent turbulence and public speculation around the band’s camp, including a moment when Arnel Pineda teased quitting the band in separate remarks.
Any change involving Castronovo would mark another major shift for the arena-rock mainstay as it heads into its next stretch of dates, with fans watching closely for clarity on whether this tour is simply another chapter or the start of a final goodbye for key members.
