Kid Rock tweeted today, “God has his ways of punishing the wicked. President Trump survived two assassination attempts. One for sure by divine intervention. I am all about trying to bring reasonable people of this world together, but I remind President Trump often that we can never forget about the evil people who wanted nothing more than to lock him up and take everything he and his vocal supporters have. Payback is a bitch. Kid Rock.”

He linked to an article about Letitia James. On April 16, 2025, New York Attorney General Letitia James was the subject of a federal criminal referral over alleged mortgage fraud, just weeks after winning a $464 million civil fraud judgment against former President Donald Trump. The Federal Housing Finance Agency accused James of misrepresenting a Norfolk, Virginia property as her primary residence in 2023 while serving as New York’s AG—a role requiring state residency. She was also accused of inaccurately classifying a Brooklyn property as a four-unit building instead of five units, potentially gaining access to more favorable mortgage terms.

James’s office denounced the referral as politically motivated, calling it a retaliatory move by allies of Trump. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed receipt of the referral but offered no additional comment.

In a parallel development, James launched a preliminary investigation into potential insider trading tied to Trump’s recent 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs, a move that led to a surge in financial markets. The investigation seeks to determine whether Trump or his associates had prior knowledge of the decision.

Separately, James joined 20 other state attorneys general in filing an amicus brief opposing federal staffing cuts to the Social Security Administration, arguing the cuts could harm millions of Americans dependent on benefits.
