Kid Rock has expensive private jet
Private jets are a contentious issue, often provoking outrage as they symbolize increasing economic inequality and environmental destruction.
A recent sighting of Kid Rock’s private jet at an airport in Michigan prompted criticism from a group of people on Reddit for its tacky artwork and negative environmental impact.
The jet, parked at Charlevoix Airport, is a Bombardier Challenger 601-3R midsize jet that can carry between 9 and 12 passengers, as per Guardian Jet. This aircraft is flown fairly regularly by Kid Rock and his team, conducting around 170 flights in 2024.
Private jets have become increasingly popular among the super wealthy because they allow for convenient travel times and access to a broader range of airports. However, this mode of transport is highly wasteful and faces significant criticism due to the excessive pollution it generates.

Many of the trips taken by people using private jets are short-haul flights that could be replaced by more sustainable modes of transport, such as taking a train or even driving. What makes matters worse is that, according to The Guardian, up to 40% of these flights are empty return legs and don’t carry any passengers at all. This consumes a large amount of fuel on unnecessary trips.
Limiting unsustainable travel, such as the use of private jets and superyachts, is essential for reducing harmful, heat-trapping pollution that contributes to global warming. While many individuals are taking steps to minimize their own pollution—like driving electric cars, switching to solar energy, and adopting more plant-based diets—the emissions from the ultra-wealthy are increasing at an alarming rate.

Kid Rock’s had an active year
Amid the scrutiny surrounding his private jet and flashy tour setups, Kid Rock has been active in the political spotlight. On March 31st, he was invited into the Oval Office by President Donald Trump, where Trump signed an executive order aimed at curbing ticket scalping and restoring transparency to live-event pricing. Rock—dressed in a red, rhinestone-studded suit adorned with the American flag—praised the move as a “great first step” toward fairer pricing for fans.
He ranted about how bots and inflated reseller fees have made concerts nearly unaffordable, even calling for legislation to cap resale prices while quickly noting he’s “a capitalist” at heart. Trump followed the signing by jokingly dubbing Kid Rock “Bob,” a nod to their longstanding friendship.
Just two months later, in May, Kid Rock again made headlines—this time with a restaurant in Nashville. His Steakhouse closed for a weekend amid local ICE raids, aiming to protect immigrant staffers from potential detention. While distancing himself from day-to-day operations, he reaffirmed support for legal immigration and expressed solidarity with his employees. Trump later publicly congratulated Kid Rock on opening another themed restaurant, “The Detroit Cowboy,” praising it as “MAGA-friendly” and partnering with him for conservative culinary branding.
