Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil revealed that he has texts, emails, and voice messages from his late bandmate Chris Cornell ‘saved’ in a new interview.

Thayil told American Songwriter, “I’ve saved texts between Chris and I and emails and voice messages,” Thayil says. “And, of course, we have our body of work.

I can hear his voice every time I hear one of our songs, which was very difficult to do for the rest of 2017 and into 2018 and probably into 2019, too. It was just difficult.”

Chris’ daughter Lily Cornell Silver recently interviewed ‘The Wire’ actor Michael K. Williams on her Mind Wide Open podcast. She wrote, “Episode 21: Michael K. Williams

Welcome back to Mind Wide Open! In today’s special episode, I am honored to speak to acclaimed actor, artist, and activist Michael K. Williams about the mental health repercussions of systemic racism and oppression, prison reform, and more. Additionally, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day being one of service, we are raising money for an initiative Michael is part of called Crew Count, founded by Dana Rachlin.

Crew Count takes a multi-layered approach to undo the harms of the NYPD’s Operation Crew Cut by engaging the most marginalized and disenfranchised community members into the voting process while addressing gun violence and food insecurity. The GoFundMe link for Crew Count is in my bio, if you are able to donate, any amount is greatly appreciated. For more information on the show, guests, and resources go to www.mindwideopenproject.com.”
