Las Vegas Attack Leads To Tight Security At ACL Festival

I am in town to cover the first day of the Austin City Limits Festival for Alternative Nation yesterday, and the city of Austin is definitely stepping up security measures in the wake of the horrific shooting last weekend at the Route 91 Festival in Las Vegas. A SWAT team truck was visible a few blocks from an entrance, while several roads were closed off and had an unmarked police car present. Many cops were around the entrance areas as well.

While Vegas weighed heavy on the minds of fans and performers, the show went on as The Revivalists preached love during their set, while movie star Matthew McConaughey showed up for Jay-Z’s set, showing that even one of Hollywood’s top actors wasn’t going to let fear stop from him enjoying his life. Everyone felt safe due to the police and security presence surrounding the venue.
