Maynard James Keenan recently responded to a tweet that makes fun of Tool taking so long to make their new album, with a photo from the film Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy. Keenan recently revealed that his bandmates Adam Jones, Justin Chancellor, and Danny Carey are the reason fans are still waiting for the album, as he has completed his recording, so fans can no longer say it is his fault.

The film is about the introduction of a powerful antidepressant, GLeeMONEX. The drug is rushed into production to help the ailing Roritor Pharmaceuticals and becomes an overnight media sensation. Those involved in the early stages of GLeeMONEX – the scientists, marketing arm and several early users – are followed, right up through the troubling coma-like side effect of being stuck in their happiest memory. Kind of sounds like the making of an album!

Aaron Michael tweeted, “Photo of Tool working on the new album. @mjkeenan #fuckhappy.”

Keenan liked the tweet, and responded, “#72degreesinyourheadallthetime.” Keenan’s response made the photo appear on his timeline if you click on the tweet.

The original tweet references a line from Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy where a character says, “I just heard about this new drug that makes you happy. I just wanna say FUCK HAPPY!!!”

Keenan’s tweet references a scene where a drug is pitched that makes it feel like it is ’72 degrees in your head all the time.’

Keenan tweeted earlier this week, “Update- Final vocals tracked MONTHS ago. Then U.S.-UK-Euro run w #APC. If Tool all inst are tracked, long process of Mixing now. Meanwhile write/film/track w @puscifer for #puscifer2020 & troll the band FBs with wine posts. #funnyshit #whileyouwerewhiningiwasworking.”

A fan named Odysseas Kripotos tweeted Keenan, “It looks like there is not much communication between the four of you.”

Maynard responded, “No shit.”
