Nardwuar, who infamously interviewed Nirvana in January 1994, reunited with Krist Novoselic 23 years later at SXSW earlier this week, conducting an impromptu interview with the legendary Nirvana bassist.

Nardwuar gave Novoselic a signed album from Terry Jacks with an inscription for ‘Dave, Krist, and Frances. From Terry Jacks.’ A clip then played of Jacks with Nardwuar discussing Cobain.

“Kurt Cobain, unbeknownst to me, in one of his last interviews by the two girl disc jockeys out of Washington DC, and in it, he said that the first single he ever bought was ‘Seasons in the Sun,’ and it would make him cry.”

Nardwuar then asked Novoselic if the song did indeed make Cobain cry, and Novoselic said it did. “Absolutely it did, it’s touching.”

“It’s just great pop music, fabulous music. It stands the test of time, of course ‘Seasons in the Sun.'”

Nardwuar also gave Novoselic Grunge Hot Wheels. Novoselic seemed happy with Cobain’s legacy.

“It’s enduring. Anything to remember Kurt Cobain, I’m on board. It’s good, we remember Kurt Cobain, and a shout out to Dave and everybody.”
