Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo recently issued a direct denial of online reports claiming he has been diagnosed with cancer, calling the posts “bullsh*t” and insisting he is in good health. The clarification came in a short video message shared on Facebook as the singer moved to shut down rumours spreading across social media.

Phil Anselmo clears the air

In the video, Anselmo said an artificial-intelligence-driven page had been circulating false claims about his health and told fans he was “healthy as a horse.” He recorded the message to counter misinformation that included a claim he was battling blood cancer.

Anselmo also used the statement to update fans on his workload, saying he is mixing new material for Down, has activity planned with King Parrot, and is working on finishing new En Minor studio recordings. He thanked supporters who had reached out with well-wishes, while criticising the role AI-generated content can play in amplifying false stories.

The health rumour blowback arrives as Pantera’s live schedule remains a talking point for metal fans, and the band’s reunion-era plans continue to be closely watched. Alternative Nation has previously tracked Pantera developments, including when Lars Ulrich revealed his perspective on the Pantera reunion as the group’s return to major stages drew major attention.

For now, Anselmo’s message appears designed to refocus attention on verified information and his ongoing projects, while warning fans to be cautious about AI-generated “news” that can spread quickly online.
