The Pearl Jam member wrote on Instagram:
“‘Murder is a crime unless it is done by a policeman.’ Our hearts are with you, Minneapolis. #f*ckice”
In the comment section of his post, Ament added: “Wow. Enough of the vitriol. I repeat, sending love to Minneapolis, to EVERYONE, especially the hateful ICE soldier and anybody supporting this aggro method of protecting citizens.”
The passing of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old woman who was shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis on Wednesday, has sparked national outcry.
Her father, Timothy Granger recently told “CBS Evening News” anchor Tony Dokoupil that she was the kind of person who always cared deeply about other people. He described her as warm, witty, and with a bubbly personality.
She grew up in Colorado Springs as one of five children, and had three children of her own two from her first marriage and a 6-year-old from her second. Her father stated that she had recently moved to Minneapolis to restart her life after what he described as an awful stretch following the sudden death of her husband.
Good, who was a U.S. citizen, was a legal observer of federal actions in the city and was not a target for arrest by ICE agents, city leaders said.
“Renee Nicole Good was a wife, mother, poet, singer, member of the LGBTQI+ community, and United States citizen,” the 12 co-chairs of the Congressional Equality Caucus said in a joint statement released Saturday. The Openly-LGBTQI+ U.S. Representatives called for a full, transparent and open investigation into the shooting.
