During a recent appearance on Billy Morrison’s SiriusXM show, Jack Osbourne shared an update on the long-awaited biopic about his father, Ozzy Osbourne.
First announced in 2021, the film is set to chronicle Ozzy’s life and career alongside his wife and longtime manager, Sharon Osbourne. As previously announced, it is being written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Lee Hall, whose credits include “Rocketman” and “Billy Elliott.”
Following Ozzy’s death in July 2025, it was confirmed that the project remained in development. Now, Jack has revealed some new details about the film.
“We are in full steam in the next phase of development with this movie,” he said. “That’s an acted movie that we’ve been developing with Sony studios for, like, six years already.”
As for who will portray his late father, Jack confirmed that a choice has been made, though he declined to reveal the actor’s identity.
“We have our decided pick, and I can’t say anything [yet], but it’s a phenomenal, phenomenal actor,” he said.
Jack also added that they “have a director attached, and we’re doing a rewrite right now.”
When Morrison, a friend and collaborator of Ozzy, remarked that Ozzy would “get a kick out of” having a film made about him, Jack agreed.
“Oh, he would,” he said. “And all he kept saying — I’d give him updates: ‘Oh, we met with this guy’, and ‘this is happening’. And he just would go, ‘I don’t give a sh*t. Just tell me when it’s out so I can go see it.'”
Last month during an interview with Piers Morgan, Sharon stated that her “main” goal is to get the biopic finished.
“We have a deal, and we’re looking for people to work on the movie now,” she explained.
When Morgan suggested Ozzy’s friend Yungblud for the role, Sharon didn’t completely shoot down the idea, responding: “I’m not saying a word.”
