New Edition Passes Phil Collins in Rock Hall Fan Vote
Phil Collins has been knocked out of the top spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2026 fan vote after leading the public leaderboard for roughly three weeks, with New Edition now sitting in first place as the early voting picture shifts.
New Edition moved into No. 1 on the Rock Hall’s 2026 fan vote leaderboard, pushing Collins to second as other names including Pink, Luther Vandross, INXS, Sade and Billy Idol follow in the current top tier.
The change is the first notable shake-up since voting opened, underscoring how quickly momentum can swing when fanbases mobilise. The same report cited a separate AXS TV tally placing New Edition at 606,181 votes and Collins at 554,300, a gap of around 52,000 votes at the time of the update.
Collins already has a Hall of Fame connection through Genesis’ 2010 induction, and a previous Alternative Nation report about Phil Collins-related Rock Hall controversy highlights how unpredictable the institution’s decision-making can look from the outside.
Even with the online totals drawing attention, the fan vote is only one part of the overall process and does not determine the final class on its own. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2026 inductees are expected to be announced later this year, with the ceremony typically held in the autumn.
