Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante plays on Dewa Budjana’s new album Mahandini. Frusciante appears on “Crowded” and “Zone”, which you can listen to below via Spotify. Frusciante reportedly recorded his parts for Mahandini last year. Frusciante hasn’t released a new recording of himself playing guitar in years, as much of his material released since leaving Red Hot Chili Peppers a decade ago is electronic leaning, so this is a welcome, and epic, return for fans. Frusciante was photographed with Flea at a boxing fight at Staples Center in Los Angeles a couple of months ago, so could this be the beginning of a rock and roll comeback for Frusciante? We’ll have to wait and see.

Red Hot Chili Peppers recently began work on a new album, but before rumors get crazy, Josh Klinghoffer remains the band’s guitarist. John Frusciante officially quit the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2009, and hasn’t played live with them since August 2007. He did not show up when the Red Hot Chili Peppers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.

Frusciante has kept a low profile since his Chili Peppers exit, not doing any touring and only sporadically being photographed with fans around Los Angeles. He does attend the Johnny Ramone memorial event every year at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, as he is good friends with Johnny’s widow Linda Ramone.
