Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis revealed in a new RTBF interview that he does not see himself or Red Hot Chili Peppers ever retiring, and that he expects to be writing music until the day he dies.

“We might always, writing music, writing songs, I can’t imagine that going away. I want to write a song today, tomorrow. That’s quite a satisfying thing to do.”

“I think about it all the time, there’s so many things that I want to sing, melodies, and lyrics. So, if you have people you want to work with for a lifetime, there’s no reason you can’t write songs until the day you die.”

He also discussed feeling nostalgic when writing the song “Encore.”

“There’s one song that is based on nostalgia called ‘Encore.’ I write a lot of music while I ride my motorcycle, so I have the CD player, and I had [the song] for awhile before I put vocals on it.

One day I was going down PCH close to where I live, I was hearing the vocal melody, and all of these flashbacks over the last 50 years of what our world has become came into my mind, and I thought ah, I’ll keep those. Why not?”
