False Claim About Duff McKagan’s Daughters

A conservative Twitter account recently spread a false claim saying that Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan’s daughters, Grace and Mae McKagan, refused to stand during an “ICE Out” moment at the Grammys. The post claimed the women were unhappy with protests against ICE and said they “REFUSED to stand during ICE Out standing ovation at the Grammy’s,” adding, “I love our law enforcement.”

That claim was incorrect. The tweet was later hit with a community note stating, “The seated women are not Grace and Mae McKagan, daughters of Duff McKagan; the video shows sports broadcaster Emily Austin, who posted it herself.” The misinformation spread quickly before being corrected.

Artists Speak Out at the Grammys

Several artists used their Grammy acceptance speeches to speak out in support of immigrants and criticize ICE. Bad Bunny delivered one of the strongest messages while accepting Best Música Urbana Album, saying, “Before I say, ‘Thanks to God,’ I’m going to say, ‘ICE out.’” He later added, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love… If we fight, we have to do it with love.”

Billie Eilish also spoke out during her Song of the Year speech, stating, “No one is illegal on stolen land,” before ending with, “F*** ICE.” Olivia Dean noted she was the granddaughter of an immigrant and said, “I’m a product of bravery, and I think those people deserve to be celebrated.”

Speaking backstage, SZA described the situation as “incredibly dystopian,” saying, “It’s always f*** ICE,” while also urging people not to lose hope or give in to despair.

Ozzy Osbourne Tribute

The night also featured a powerful tribute to Ozzy Osbourne. Post Malone led a performance of “War Pigs” alongside Slash, Duff McKagan, Andrew Watt, and Chad Smith, honoring Ozzy’s legacy in a loud, heavy, and fitting way.
