Rob Reiner’s Children Reportedly Stop Funding Nick’s Lawyer

Two of filmmaker Rob Reiner’s children have reportedly stopped paying for a private defence attorney for their brother Nick Reiner, who has pleaded not guilty to charges that he murdered their parents in Los Angeles.

Romy Reiner, 28, and Jake Reiner, 34, cut off funding for high-profile criminal defence lawyer Alan Jackson after initially retaining him, with New York Post reporting that Jackson later withdrew from the case following an undisclosed disagreement.

Nick Reiner, 32, entered a not guilty plea in Los Angeles County Superior Court and is currently represented by deputy public defender Ms. Kimberly Greene, according to the report. A source cited by TMZ said Romy and Jake are not involved in Nick’s legal strategy as the case proceeds.

In earlier Alternative Nation coverage, Nick Reiner had a public defender enter his plea after a private attorney stepped away from the case.

Prosecutors have not ruled out seeking the death penalty if Nick is convicted, and his next court appearance is scheduled for April 29, when a preliminary hearing date is expected to be set.
