Nick Reiner is gearing up to celebrate the 79th birthday of his father, Rob Reiner, on March 6th, Rob Shuter reported in his Naughty But Nice Substack on Monday, January 12th.
Nick Reiner looking forward to celebration
“He really thinks he’ll be out in time,” a source told Shuter. “He doesn’t seem to comprehend why he’s locked up at all.”
The 30-year-old, who has been charged with the December 14th slayings of his dad and mom, Michele Singer Reiner, “is completely cut off from reality,” said another insider. “It’s like talking to someone who exists in a completely separate world.”
As per TMZ, Nick had been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and a change in his medication led to erratic and dangerous behavior, sources told the outlet, about a month before his parents were found stabbed to death in their L.A. home
And not much has changed, another source told Shuter: “He’s still struggling with his treatment. Nothing seems to stabilize him, and reaching him is nearly impossible.”
Nick has not entered a plea, though both TMZ and Shuter speculated that his defense will focus on his mental health issues, with a source noting to TMZ that the change in medications put him “on a path that made him legally insane.”
High-powered attorney Alan Jackson announced that he was no longer on the case on Wednesday, January 7th, but reiterated his belief in Nick’s innocence.
“What we’ve learned and you can take this to the bank, is that pursuant to the laws of this state, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder,” he told reporters. “Print that. We wish him the very very best moving forward.”
