Sammy Hagar recently opened up about messing up the tribute performance to Ozzy Osbourne.

Ozzy Osbourne recently passed away at the age of 76, just weeks after reuniting with his Black Sabbath bandmates, and performing a huge farewell concert for fans. The show brought together the original lineup of Black Sabbath for the first time in 20 years, with Osbourne on vocals, Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass and Bill Ward on drums.

Sammy Hagar was one of the notable names who performed at the farewell show. The Red Rocker, who is between residencies at Dolby Live, sang “Flying High Again” and “No More Tears” at the event. However, he messed up the lyrics of Flying High Again.

Taking to X, Hagar posted a clip of the performance and wrote, “I had the chance last night to jump on stage at an event, and I thought it was a good opportunity to do an acoustic first verse of “Flying High Again” and redeem myself by for messing up the lyrics at the Back To The Beginning show. Still can’t believe he’s gone.”

Osbourne’s passing came as a shock to the music fraternity. He leaves behind his wife, Sharon, and their children, Aimee, Kelly and Jack, as well his two older children, Jessica and Louis, from his first marriage to Thelma Riley, and grandchildren. Tributes poured in, and Sammy Hagar also paid tribute to the metal legend.

He wrote, “For him to have been that close to death on July 5 and still get up there and performed like he promised, wow! That puts him in a category of his own. Talk about commitment and loyalty to your fans … Ozzy was an will always be a one-of-a-kind, true rock legend. Nobody’s going to out do that, ever,” Hagar said. “RIP my brother, you did it all.”
