It has long been rumored that John Borja and Jeff Gutt were the top candidates for Stone Temple Pilots’ singer job, and now John Borja appears to be claiming he’s the band’s new singer. He is in the process of getting a work visa, as he currently lives in the Phillipines. Note that Stone Temple Pilots have said nothing about this, and singers have claimed in the past that they got the job.

Borja wrote on Facebook a few days ago along with a photo with Robert DeLeo from last year (that you can see at the bottom of this article), “It has been a year since our roads crossed twofold. Looking forward to happier moments like this, exploring ourselves to channel great musical moments for everyone. #STP.”

When someone commented, “Still no news, buddy?” Borja responded, “?.”

A friend also commented, “Dream come true bro! You raise the Philippine Flag \ m / #stonetemplepilots.”

Another commented, “John Borja is the new vocalist of stp.”

Back in May, Stone Temple Pilots rehearsed with Jeff Gutt. Former Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo attended the rehearsal, and indicted that Gutt was the new singer, and that STP reveal it on their ‘own time.’

Robert DeLeo discussed the singer search in a Billboard interview earlier this month.

“It’s been very interesting. You get some interesting scenarios with people. There’s been some colorful people, I should say [Laughs] … Some of these people, they sing in their bedroom and their mom and dad tell ’em they’re great. Then they get into a room with a band that’s turned up to 10 and expect to lead the band. You can pretty much tell right off the bat that’s not happening with certain people. There are a lot of things to look at to really, really choose someone to move forward with.”
