Super Bowl 2026 Halftime Show rumors

Fans on social media believe Apple Music have revealed that Miley Cyrus will headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2026, after rumors that Taylor Swift will perform.

Unless you consider Maroon 5 to fall under the genre of “rock,” it has been well over a decade since any rock band has headlined the Super Bowl. That could soon change, however, as Metallica’s name keeps popping up as a potential Super Bowl LX halftime performer.

In an interview with Howard Stern last month, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich was asked if the band is at all interested in playing at the 2026 Super Bowl – which is taking place in San Francisco.

“F*ck yeah of course we would,” Ulrich said. “First of all we would do it. Second of all, to do it in San Francisco would be a dream come true and would be the right fit. …Certainly as somebody who’s represented San Francisco all over the world and shouted for decades about San Francisco and our love for the Bay Area, that part of it is the right fit. Ultimately it’s not our decision.”

In addition to Ulrich, 2024 Super Bowl halftime performer Usher is also championing the idea of Metallica taking the slot.

In a new, very brief, interview with TMZ, the R&B star was asked who he’d like to see take the stage at the massive event next year, to which he quickly replied: “Metallica.”

While Metallica would mark a clear change of pace from the pop-heavy lineups of recent years, James Hetfield and co. could be facing some stiff competition for the gig. Rumors have been swirling that Taylor Swift is possibly being considered to headline the show, given her recent engagement to Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell even hinted that the pop star may be in the running to perform at Super Bowl LX, with him teasing that a Swift halftime show is “maybe” in the works.

“We would always love to have Taylor play,” Goodell recently told NBC’s “Today”. “She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time.”
