Ted Nugent recently criticized Green Day’s selection for a special performance at the 2026 Super Bowl in Santa Clara, California. He made controversial comments about the band in a statement shared on Unshaken and Unafraid with Joe Pags podcast.
Ted Nugent goes off on Green Day
The rock musician expressed his disapproval of the NFL’s decision while acknowledging the band’s musical talents.
“Now, Green Day, politically, they’re like brain dead idiots, but they make great music,” Nugent said. “I have to tell you, if you listen to the lyrics, Green Day are some killer musicians.”
Nugent accused the band of hypocrisy, arguing that despite artists like Green Day and Bruce Springsteen having strong work ethics, they oppose the same American system that enabled their success and wealth.
“But I think what is happening this NFL decision to have somebody that is anti-American, anti-constitution, anti-Christian, anti-conservative, anti-work ethic,” he continued. “Even though Green Day has an incredible work ethic, Bruce Springsteen has an incredible work ethic, but they couldn’t be dumber because they’re against the very system by which they became millionaires.”
