Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee is once again being sued over allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman during a helicopter flight in 2003.

The plaintiff, Heather Taylor, first filed a lawsuit against Lee in 2023 over accusations of sexual battery, but the case was later dismissed.

However, a new California law has created a two-year window for certain previously time-barred sexual assault claims. Taylor has now refiled her lawsuit under that statute, submitting a new complaint on Tuesday (Jan. 20), according to Rolling Stone.

In a statement on her decision to continue legal action against Lee, Taylor explained: “If anyone thought my prior dismissal was a retreat, they vastly miscalculated my stamina. I dismissed my own case to await this legislation. Now that I have the law in my favor, I’m seeking justice.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone this past October, Taylor recalled that she was “trapped” with Lee in a helicopter during a sightseeing flight in 2003. She alleges that after takeoff Lee and pilot David Martz began consuming alcohol and a variety of drugs. Taylor claims that during the helicopter ride, Lee pulled her onto his lap where he groped and kissed her. She also alleges that Lee touched her inappropriately and attempted to push her head towards his lap.

“Ms. Taylor suffered a horrible and life-altering sexual assault at the hands of Mr. Lee, as described in her complaint, and she is determined to see that justice is done here,” Taylor’s lawyer, Jeffrey Reeves, told Billboard. “Ms. Taylor filed her complaint in compliance with California’s newly enacted ‘Justice for Survivors of Sexual Assault Act’ and looks forward to holding Mr. Lee accountable for the unspeakable harm he has caused her.”

Lee has previously denied Taylor’s allegations, with his lawyers calling them “bogus and false.”
