Tool has addressed speculation about being removed from Black Sabbath’s final show by sharing promotional materials on their official Instagram account. The band appears to counter rumors that emerged following Sharon Osbourne’s recent comments. It has been cleared that the band will be part of the Ozzy plus Black Sabbath Back to the Beginning concert despite speculation over the weekend that the band had been dropped from the bill.
The rumors began circulating after Osbourne discussed removing a band from a Black Sabbath celebration event during a recent interview with Metal Hammer. She addressed a conflict with a band’s management in that interview.
Osbourne said, “I had a huge, huge to-do with a manager over this celebration for Ozzy and Sabbath. And it was probably the worst way I’ve felt in years. And I don’t care what this person says about me, thinks about it, because he doesn’t know me.”
She continued her explanation about the decision to remove the band from the event.
“And he’s now going around making up bullshit lies because I threw his band off the bill,” she said. “I don’t care what people say. Because do you know what? I don’t love them. I care about people who love me, what they say about me. You can’t care what an industry says, because you don’t love them, so how can it hurt you? It doesn’t.”
Tool’s response came through sharing the official poster for Black Sabbath’s final show livestream event, which includes their name circled on the bill. The band made no direct statement but appeared to use the visual evidence to address the speculation about their involvement in the event.
The confusion surrounding which band was actually removed has led to widespread speculation within the metal community. Fans initially pointed to Tool due to promotional material discrepancies.
Though tickets to the Back to the Beginning concert sold out rather quickly, the livestream now provides the best option for fans to catch this historic performance. There are ticketing and bundle options available for those who want to check out the show.
In addition to Ozzy, Black Sabbath and Tool, the day will feature sets from Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice in Chains, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Mastodon and Rival Sons, along with many other rock and metal stars joining together to form supergroups throughout the day.
During an interview, Maynard James Keenan talked about Ozzy Osbourne’s induction.
