Motley Crue singer Vince Neil suffered four strokes

“The doctor said that I probably wouldn’t be on stage again”: Motley Crue singer Vince Neil reveals he’s suffered four strokes in recent years in a new Eddie Trunk interview on SiriusXM.

“Two of ’em I didn’t even know I had,” says Neil. “One of ’em was a mini stroke that happened, and I just lost feeling in my hand. And that was it. And I got over that pretty quickly. But then this last one, it was a big one.”

“I went from a wheelchair to a walker to a cane,” Neil tells Trunk he lost use of his legs after a stroke on Christmas last year. “I can walk now, but for five months it was just off and on, not knowing what’s gonna happen. And the doctor said that I probably wouldn’t be on stage again. And I was, like, ‘No, man. I can’t do that.”

Fortunately Motley Crue are back now with their Las Vegas residency, but it now makes sense why they missed the Ozzy Osbourne farewell show with Black Sabbath.

Vince Neil’s issues forced Motley Crue to miss Black Sabbath show

On July 5, dozens of bands and artists performed at Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s final concert “Back to the Beginning” – which took place just two weeks before Osbourne’s death. One band noticeably absent from the lineup, however, was Mötley Crüe.

While speaking to Billboard in a new interview, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx explained why the band was unable to attend the massive event.

“It was something we were just unable to do… We couldn’t do it even if we wanted to,” Sixx said, referring to frontman Vince Neil’s recent health issues.

Neil recently revealed that he suffered a stroke the day after Christmas 2024, which forced the band to postpone their Las Vegas residency earlier this year.

Sixx continued, reflecting on the huge role the Osbournes played in Mötley Crüe’s career.

“Honestly, they broke our band, Ozzy and Sharon [Osbourne]. Sharon saw a band that something was happening with and it was a perfect fit for Ozzy, and we just became so close and Ozzy took us around the world and just did everything for us… and of course all the wild and fun stories that is Ozzy. I’ll forever be in debt to Sharon and Ozzy for that.”

While Mötley Crüe may not have attended “Back to the Beginning,” Sixx did end up streaming the show.

“And, man, I gotta tell ya, Ozzy, way to f*ckin’ go out with a bang,” he said of the concert. “He really did it, and everybody showed up because they loved him and supported him.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have him anymore, but we got one of the greatest rock stars of all time who came while we were here on this planet and went back to the f*ckin’ stars, man. It’s like, ‘I came down there and I kicked some f*ckin’ ass.’ Thank you, Ozzy, every day for the opportunity to have a career.”
