Incubus and Cage The Elephant frontman Matt Shultz performed “Black Hole Sun” last night at the KROQ Weenie Roast in honor of late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell.
Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd posted the following tribute, “I’ve been sitting in sadness a bit since the news of the passing of our friend and deep well of inspiration, Chris Cornell. My heart hurts to know that this titan of musicality and gem of a human has left the earth.
I hadn’t seen Chris since we toured Oz with Soundgarden a couple years ago but I can say that it was such a blessing and a privilege to watch him with his band and be reminded of why I wanted to be in a band in the first place. To his family, friends and band mates, my deepest condolences and to his fans and listeners, I’m with you in sadness but also in awe as we celebrate this amazing human. Sleep well #chriscornell ❤️.”
