After 20 years of marriage, Scott Shriner’s wife, Jillian Lauren-Shriner, has reportedly filed for divorce. The Weezer bassist and Jillian tied the knot in November 2005 and share two adopted children.

According to People, Jillian cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split, is seeking spousal support, and has requested that Scott cover her attorney fees. She is also said to be dropping “Shriner” from her name and is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their sons.

This comes just months after Jillian made headlines for an officer-involved shooting that led to her arrest.

On April 8, police were searching for a hit-and-run suspect in the Shriners’ neighborhood. Although Jillian was not connected to the hit-and-run, she reportedly stepped into her backyard with a handgun during the commotion. After failing to comply with officers’ commands to drop the gun and allegedly discharging her weapon, she was shot in the shoulder by an LAPD officer.

Jillian was transported to a hospital and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer, before prosecutors later reduced the charges to assault and negligent discharge of a firearm.

After pleading not guilty, she was granted a diversion program by a judge due to mental health issues, allowing her to avoid jail time.

One month before this incident, in March 2025, Jillian revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer and had recently undergone two back-to-back surgeries to treat it, including a full hysterectomy.
