Chris Cornell’s guitar tech Vincent Dennis discussed Chris’ last meeting with Brad Pitt and Sting in January 2017 in a new Ultimate-Guitar interview.

“Working with Chris was the greatest! He dealt with a lot of different guitar tunings for a lot of different songs. Whether it was his own, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave, or just cover tunes that he admired. We were doing a charity event in Malibu where Chris and Sting were performing. As I was setting up Chris’s gear, Sting walked up and introduced himself to me.

Under my breath, I was like, man, I know who you are. But anyway, the event was to be Chris Cornell opening up for Sting, but Sting said, “why don’t we just both go up and trade off songs and perform together”.

So imagine Chris starting out a Soundgarden song, the crowd going crazy, as Sting performs with him, and Sting starting a Police song and Chris joining in. The crowd was basically a backyard of A-List actors and actresses and stars with Brad Pitt and Courtney Cox as the hosts, and Zack Galifianakis as the MC. Now that was one classic gig.” Brad Pitt later appeared at the Chris Cornell tribute show in January 2019.
