The following is a press release confirming the official cause of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell’s death last night. Cornell died in his hotel room following a performance with Soundgarden in Detroit.
MEDICAL EXAMINER’S OFFICE UPDATE ON CHRIS CORNELL AUTOPSY
DETROIT, MI – Statement from the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office: The Medical Examiner has completed the autopsy on 52-year old Chris Cornell, the Soundgarden musician who died last night in Detroit. The cause of death has been determined as suicide by hanging. A full autopsy report has not yet been completed. There is no additional information at this time.
