A favorite target of the Chris Cornell murder conspiracy theorists has been his bodyguard Martin Kirsten, who tried to save the singer’s life by kicking down hotel room doors after hotel management reportedly refused to help him. They also like to claim that there was a cover up, and that police did not investigate every angle of Cornell’s death.

After the release of the preliminary police report yesterday, we now know that Kirsten was interviewed and cleared of all wrongdoing. Detroit News reporter George Hunter is also reporting on his Twitter account that police investigated the bodyguard closely, and found nothing, completely debunking false conspiracy theories. He also said there are no time lapses, debunking another claim from conspiracy theorists.

The police report stated, “Investigator Weaver responded to location, surveyed the scene. Inv. Weaver photo-documented the scene, and directed evidence tech unit 4700 and 4711 to collect identified evidence, collect DNA samples from scene. Photographs of Mr. Kirsten and DNA sample was directed to be obtained from Mr. Kirsten. Investigator Weaver interviewed and obtained a written witness statement from Mr. Kirsten.”

Hunter tweeted, “The cops told me there are no time lapses. We don’t know how long phone conversations were, how long BG waited before calling security etc.

…but the police know, and they told me there is nothing that doesn’t add up. They investigated the BG closely, but I didn’t put that in…

…the story because it’s unfair to insinuate anyone is under suspicion when he’s not been charged, or even off record accused of anything.”

When a conspiracy theorist said that the ‘gaps are huge and inconsistencies are staggering,’ Hunter again responded with what his police sources told him.

“That’s not what the cops who investigated this tell me.”

He later wrote to a conspiracy theorist.

“…but the homicide cops I spoke with insist they looked closely at all that, and found nothing unusual.”

He also responded to a Rolling Stone report that said a 911 call was made just after midnight.

“So either the RS reporter or cop spokesman made a mistake. The report says there was a doc on the scene; so does my story.”

“I’m not concerned with what’s in other peoples’ stories. Again, maybe it was mistake by either the reporter or spokesman. Ask that reporter.”
