On September 5th, Linkin Park announced that they are back and introduced their new vocalist Emily Armstrong through a live stream event. Following the event, vocalist Mike Shinoda spoke to Chicago’s Q101 and revealed that Emily got very emotional while performing Waiting for the End, and started to cry.
Mike Shinoda recalls when Emily started to cry
Mike Shinoda said Emily couldn’t keep singing, and stopped in the second verse as she cried, which isn’t visible on the live stream. Shinoda then took over, and gave Emily a breather to get back on track.
“In ‘Waiting for the End,’ she got so emotional that she couldn’t keep singing. She basically was crying. In the song so she keeps she keeps trying to start and stop singing, but like in the second verse she completely stopped singing. You can’t really see it on the live stream, but. She told me like she couldn’t get it going. She just kept trying to sing and she couldn’t get it together.”
He added:
“We finished the song and she was back on track, but for a moment, you know, I only say that because I think we all. I’m not a big crier actually neither is she, but I’m I’m really not and I felt that way too. Like it were different moments in the set where was very emotional.”
Mike talking about that moment in the interview: “She got so emotional that she couldn’t keep singing. [..] I’m not a big crier, but I felt that way too. There were different moments in the set that were very emotional.”🥲❤️ https://t.co/C0K6kw3P9u pic.twitter.com/Nx6ZdsMyKJ
