Scott Weiland Music Royalties Taken By Big Company Due To Debt

We reported last month on late Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland’s estate being ordered to pay child support, but The Blast recently posted an updated report that details where Weiland’s lucrative music royalty money is going.

The estate of Weiland has been ordered to pay his ex-wife (and mother of his two kids) $4,000 per month in child support, following her request for the cash.

Earlier this year, Mary Weiland, Scott’s former wife, filed court docs asking for the money, which was the same amount she was getting in child support from their divorce.

Mary explained she is the head of Scott’s estate and the mother of his two children Noah (age 17) and Lucy (age 15 at the time, now 16). She points out Scott was survived by his most recent spouse, Jamie Weiland.

The estate consists of personal property valued at $1,652,332.03. The creditors who have filed a claim against the estate include City National Bank ($691,971), who have been garnishing Scott’s music royalties, leaving a balance of $645,476.

Mary said her kids don’t have support from other sources. She points to the divorce judgment, which ordered Scott to pay her $4k/month in child support and sought the approval of the court to be paid the support every month.

On July 11, the judge came back with his decision on the matter and granted Mary’s request.

The order directs Scott’s estate, run by Mary, to pay her $4,000 per month from the date of Weiland’s death and continuing until each child reaches 18.

    Can’t Mary get a job?

Took the words right outta my mouth.

If it weren’t for her, he most likely would not have been on that tour. She has always been money hungry. I read in the past that his payments to her were way higher than 4K a month. So not sure why this article says 4k. Even 4k was prob unobtainable off his last tour when you consider he was playing poorly attended shows at no name dives. By the time all expenses were in, ie rented tour bus and driver, food, roadies, mgmt, etc I bet each band member made peanuts. While there was the initial bump in music sales once he died, that prob petered out. His death was sad but not unexpected and therefor people moved on to more controversial deaths like Chris Cornell.
It is a shame his kids did not inherit all his royalties.

      • Allison Auld

Parents are expected to support their minor children. Plus, he owed more than just support. Art of Anarchy was suing him for $20 million. If he would have cleaned up and not being fired from STP. he could have easily supported his children. Scott’s life was a mess because of Scott’s disease and the enablers who fanned the flames of that disease. His children had only one functional parent way before Scott actually died. You can’t blame Mary for looking out for her children.

        • richj88

I’m so sick of people using the “disease” defense. STFU with that nonsense. Disease? More like an excuse to get drunk or high. Be responsible, how about that?
On an unrelated matter, you guys notice that only the females are saying that she deserves the money? Go figure.

          • Allison Auld

I also said that he should have cleaned up (i.e. received treatment for his disease). He was responsible for doing that, absolutely. And I also know that he tried – many times – but it never stuck. The only time he was sober for extended periods of time as an adult was when he was with Mary. Also, SHE does not deserve the money, THEIR children do. I don’t care about the functional parent’s gender. If it had been their mother who had been an out of control addict for years and their father had been caring for them and then the mother died of her addictions, I would be saying the same thing – in that case, that their father should be awarded the money FOR THE CHILDREN.

          • Cunt Fuckula

DRUG ADDICTION IS NOT A DISEASE.

          • makingconnections

Responsibility? How about developing a little humility.

The men that are speaking here are uptight and angry. Men who are supportive of women (And there are many of them) wouldn’t bother getting into it with you.

        • HippieChic61

          10 OUT OF 10!

        • Nicola

Oh absolutely, you are right that he blew his career up due to drugs. That being said, there were plenty of signs in the years before he succimbed that he needed to drop touring and go to inpatient long term treatment. BUT doing so cost money. And I do believe he was undef severe financial pressure to meet his obligations, most importantly his children. That pressure kept him out on the road when it was not in his best interest. As we know, there was no happy ending to this

          • Allison Auld

I don’t understand how his children are viewed by some simply as “obligations” or sources of “pressure”. He made the choice to have children. They didn’t ask to be born. They are absolutely blameless. As far as touring, he was a world-famous musician. He could have concentrated instead on producing or songwriting for other artists. But he wasn’t sober enough to make things like that work. Or, as Brett said, he could have still been with STP or VR – touring less but still making more money. But he burned all his bridges, because of the drugs.

        • Cunt Fuckula

What “disease”? Alcoholism and drug addiction are not a “disease”. They’re a personal choice aided and abetted by a lack of self-control and willpower.

Do not vouch for these things as some sort of illness the user had no control over. You’re dead wrong there.

          • Allison Auld

Alcoholism is considered a chronic brain disease. The AMA has declared it as such back in 1956. It is also in the DSM, along with other substance use disorders.

      • Rm Weiland

4k is a joke, an unreal joke. Just imagine Scott’s empire, and mary’s money hungry… In fact it was about 40k/month.

        • HippieChic61

No it wasnt! He said in the Howard Stern interview, his monthly expenses “including child support” were about 40 k a month. And I can just imagine his party expenses. Dont believe me? Go listen to the interview! All the Mary haters ran wild with the 40 k a month thing…But thats not what he said.

    • Kay B

No she is clearly too good for that.

  • makingconnections

I hope there will be something available for their education when the time comes.

  • Allison Auld

$4,000 for support for two children who live in L.A. is peanuts. Plenty of rock/pop stars are paying waaay more than that in child support. And it will only be for a couple more years (Noah turns 18 in November and Lucy is 16.) Scott owed a lot of people money. If they are recouping their losses, why shouldn’t his children benefit as well?? Mary is standing up for her children the way she always has.

    • Rm Weiland

4k/month is a lie. He paid way, way much more…

      • Allison Auld

I don’t know what he paid when he was alive but the COURT order is for the Estate to pay $4,000 a month, which is not very much at all, comparatively. (If you look at what Slash and/or Britney Spears are paying for two children per month, for example.)

      • HippieChic61

Half the time he didnt pay her at all!

  • frank

Y don’t this money hungry bitch get a job

    • HippieChic61

Why do you feel his kids arent entitled to his money? Theyre his kids!

      • Kevin J

Frank isn’t saying his kids aren’t entitled to his money. He’s just saying both kids are almost 18 and Mary should get a job. The kids are old enough and have money to take care of themselves….for now. There will be more money for them as new material is released. So Frank is saying, hey look at Mary. Shes always been a model. So essentially she is worthless and needs to learn a trade or sales gig or greeter at Walmart type of job because that’s probably what she’s capable of.

        • HippieChic61

          triggered lol

          • Kevin J

            Worthless libtard

          • Kevin J

But I was just out shooting my sniper rifle and ar15 so yeah I was triggered now that I think about it

          • HippieChic61

Yeah, except Im a registered republican who worked on Ronald Reagan’s campaign.
Funny how misleading a little avatar pic can be huh? lol

          • Kevin J

Don’t care, that just proves your more of an idiot. Republicans and democracts are all the same. It’s morons like you that help pretend there’s a difference between the two. Now go troll off somewhere else

          • HippieChic61

Reading through your replies and comments make it very obvious who the moron is here!

          • Kevin J

Thanks for wasting your time reading my genius. It’s not to many hippie chicks that come along that can read. Your comprehension is where you are lacking. Put the joint down, and realize it’s not bitching about women in general. It’s about one rich lazy slag who wants to squeeze every penny out of Scotts estate (for her kids). Yeah, some will go to the kids, but sooner or later looks fade, money runs out and she sure isnt going to get paid for being hot anymore. Get a job.

          • HippieChic61

Stop trying to insult me. Its “Too many hippie chics, not To”, Genius 🙂
Im aware that you’re bitching about Mary and not women in general. Why are you so butthurt over it, youre not paying it and there isnt anyone else deserving of his estate more than his children, whether Mary works or doesnt. Which, btw, youre not positive shes isnt.

          • Kevin J

You got me, I’ll blame it on auto correct but don’t worry, I edited it to what it should be. You’re right about assuming that a rich rock stars wife doesn’t really work….bahaha. Now, why am I butthurt? Well I think it’s pretty shitty when a worthless slag badmouths the man that gave her everything and made her “somebody,” shit talks him after he passes. I loved Scott. Imperfections and all. Peace man ✌️

          • HippieChic61

I loved Scott. Imperfections and all. As did I. Have a groovy weekend!

  • Cunt Fuckula

LOL this hose beast continues to suck ol’ Scotty dry, even in death. So sad these broads who can’t bring in their own income.

    • HippieChic61

Mary has physically been raising those kids alone for years. Why shouldn’t they get Scott’s money, they deserve it!

  • Eddie Yarler

If Mary was smart than she’d allow permission for Scott’s unreleased solo material to come out. The Wondergirls said they have the album ready to go but Mary refuses to let it be released. I’m sure the same applies to the Happy and Blaster b-sides. May not be as big as anything Linkin Park would put out but its something

    • makingconnections

Why would she be holding back on that?

      • Eddie Yarler

Probably some stupid personal reason. With the Wondergirls I’m assuming its because thats when Scott’s drug addiction was at its darkest. With everything else probably because there are songs like ‘Happy’ where he talks about their divorce, or because there’s stuff about Jamie.

        • makingconnections

Human pride can cause so many problems can’t it?!

I hope she comes to her senses when her children have the need to get launched as adults in the world. They should benefit from their Father’s amazing talent.

        • Cunt Fuckula

“thats when Scott’s drug addiction was at its darkest”

In that case, the Wondergirls album is probably just as awesome as Purple or Contraband.

Come on, Mary, you money hungry bitch! Release it and make yourself some more fast cash!

  • Alternative Nation

I can’t believe some of the comments here trashing Mary. Why don’t you want Scott’s kids to get his money? I find it real sad how people attack the mothers of children/ex-wives/widows after these drug and suicide rock deaths. These women now have to raise their kids without a father. Also for anybody trying to blame child support money for Scott’s death, Scott sadly made his own bed. If he hadn’t been abusing drugs and alcohol, he would have likely been in STP and Velvet Revolver simultaneously and had no problems at all bringing in money.

    • HippieChic61

They are doing the same to Vicky Cornell!

    • Allison Auld

You are absolutely right, Brett. It borders on misogyny. These are probably the same type of people who look at Britney Spears’ situation and say, “Yeah, they’re her children! Let that b*tch pay for them.” The woman always seems to be the wrong party. In truth, BOTH parents are responsible for supporting their minor children and if one is deceased, the Estate needs to continue the minors’ support.

    • Cunt Fuckula

I find it funny that you said none of this to him when you had the chance to interview him shortly before he died. If I recall, you were milking his drug addiction and downward spiral for all it was worth for your clickbait articles back in 2015. I’d say Mary isn’t the only one who got paid despite Scott’s downfall.

Have a little respect for the dead there, Brett. He made your site $$$, too.

  • P.j. Walter

I feel bad for his kids, they’re the real victims here. Mary can fuck off.

  • Kay B

Okay let’s be honest and fair about this. Yes rockers should support their SO and kids. But we all know this doesn’t always happen. Anytime a rocker dies the money should go to the children. It should be put in a trust fund for college. If the children don’t go to college, it goes to them after age 18. Yes Mary, like much other rockers’ SO end up taking care of the kids alone. It shouldn’t be that way. I love Scott but he was a shit father. Some rockers are. However, most of these women know this before they make a baby with them. Mary and Scott did many drugs together before they got married. At one point it was the only thing they had in common. These women who want the money, notoriety, furs, purses and so on are also rolling the dice in the relationship. Will my husband die of an OD? Chances could be good.. Will my husband commit suicide? Chances could be good….Will my husband sleep around? Chances will be good. Do the wives and children deserve their money? Of course they do.. But we all know that isn’t how it works sometimes. So even though at the time it seems like marrying a rock star has many pros, the con is you have to be careful who you make babies with. Chances are if the star was doing drugs when you met or they are a known addict it will come flooding back. I’m not saying they don’t deserve wives or babies, but the wives have to realize there is a high chance they won’t change for you or their antics. Some do for sure, but they are the exception not the rule. Men out there: take care of your kids. The type of father you are will impact what kind of people they grow up to be. Women out there: be careful who you bed with. And don’t depend on your man to make all the money. Get a job and an education so you can support yourself if things don’t turn out.
