Recently, it was noted in a Reddit post that Hawkins’ son recently played with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith’s son. They were seen having a jamming session. Chad Smith’s son was seen playing Hawkins’ drums while, Hawkins’ son was seen playing the guitar.

One of the fans on Reddit, thedonjefron69 noted that: “I feel so much for Taylors son. I couldnt even imagine given their relationship and how his son looked up to his dad.Its great to see Chad being a good friend to Taylor by making sure he looks out for his kid too. Its good to see Taylors son jamming too”

While another, cjester1121 noted: “This is incredible. I’m so happy Chad is giving us a glimpse into all of this and is naturally stepping in to love on Taylor’s son. Chad and Taylor were so good for each other. Can’t replace a friendship, dare I say brotherhood like that. Warms my cold black heart.”

Previously, Chad Smith paid tribute to Taylor Hawkins. He joined the Stern Show for an epic, two-hour-long interview touching as he discussed the recent loss of a friend and fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Taylor Hawkins and reminisced his fond memories of the band’s short-lived tour with Nirvana and Pearl Jam.

In addition to celebrating the band’s new album, Chad made a point of celebrating the life and musical contributions of drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away unexpectedly last month at the age of 50. Rocking out Tuesday morning on a bass drum that read “Taylor,” Chad told Howard precisely how much the late Foo Fighters drummer meant to him.

“I loved Taylor. He was one of my best friends … We’re still shocked and so saddened by his passing,” Smith said, explaining the Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters had grown close touring together in the late ‘90s and early 2000s. “He loved life, you know. He was a real beacon full of positive energy. I’m going to miss him so much.”
