Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon has shared the new solo song “BYE BYE 25!” – a remake of her 2024 track “BYE BYE,” but this time using words “cancelled” by President Donald Trump.

The new version includes words such as “mental health,” “Gulf of Mexico,” “gay,” “advocate,” “care,” “diversity,” “pregnant person,” “climate change,” “female,” “women,” “Hispanic,” “immigrants,” and dozens more – all phrases which the Trump administration has allegedly “banned” from research proposals in an attempt to end anything they deem to be “woke.”

“(Producer and collaborator) Justin Raisen had this idea to redo ‘Bye Bye’ starting at the end of the song,” Gordon said of the track. “When I was thinking of lyric ideas, it occurred to me to use words taken from a site that had all the words that Trump has essentially banned, meaning any grant or piece of a project or proposal for research that includes any of those words would be immediately disregarded or “cancelled.” I guess Trump does believe in cancel culture, because he is literally trying to cancel culture.”

Proceeds from the sale of “BYE BYE 25!” and its promotional merch will be donated to the reproductive rights nonprofit Noise for Now.
