Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith responded to a challenge from Steve Gleason in a new video.

“This is Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, this is for you Steve. The ironic thing is I don’t like Chili Peppers, I’m not a fan of a hot pepper. I’m calling out my buddies Will Ferrell and Mike McCready to do the same.”

He then ate the red hot chili pepper and seemed disgusted.

Smith also tweeted, “Steve Gleason I (reluctantly) accept your #ALSPepperChallenge @ALSTDI has raised over $500K thru the challenge. I challenge you @MikeMcCreadyPJ & Will Ferrell @funnyordie to do the same! @TeamGleason.”

Last month at One Classy Night in Seattle at the Moore Theater, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready united with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Brandi Carlile, and Stefan Lessard to form a one off supergroup to cover rock classics including Led Zeppelin’s “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” and R.E.M.’s “So. Central Rain (I’m Sorry).”

Watch videos below, also featuring RHCP guitarist Josh Klinghoffer on the R.E.M. cover.

Pearl Jam members Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready joined forces with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, his doppelganger Will Ferrell, and Brandi Carlile to cover Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus” at One Classy Night In Seattle on last month at the Moore Theater.
