Chris Cornell’s mother Karen, brother Peter, and ex-wife Susan Silver attended the MusiCares event honoring Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready at the Showbox in Seattle on Thursday. McCready received the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award. McCready played with Chris Cornell in Temple of the Dog and at Mad Season’s 2015 Benyora Hall reunion show.

Peter Cornell wrote on Instagram, “I flew to the “old country” on Thursday. Susan invited us to the Music Cares presentation of the Stevie Ray Vaughan award to honor Mike McCready. An evening of Seattle’s rock royalty assembled at the Showbox to celebrate Mike and his contribution to recovery and the community in general.

Certainly a bittersweet experience for me. These were my Brother’s people and it was not difficult to imagine him in that room. He was never shy about expressing his love and admiration for Mike as well as all of his TOTD, SG and Audioslave Brothers. They were finishing the TOTD record and he played me Reach Down. He was so proud and stoked about how Mike just unleashed the hounds on that tune. Hard to do Seattle without you Brother.”
