Pearl Jam and Temple of the Dog guitarist Mike McCready discussed “Reach Down” in a recent KEXP interview after the song was played on the radio.

“Chris wrote that song, and I heard the demo of it, and I was lucky enough to play on it. I remember his reasoning for having a song that long was, ‘I want to send this song to the label, and this will be the first single.’ Knowing that that’s funny because it’s a super long song. I was just so honored to be part of it. Thanks Chris for letting me play on that.”

McCready discussed Pearl Jam’s upcoming Home Shows at Safeco Field in Seattle set to take place next week, and raising awareness for homelessness, in a new Seattle Times interview.

“I grew up here and I’ve never seen anything like this — none of us have,” McCready says. “So what do you do? Do you just sit around and go, ‘That’s just how it is?’ Or do you dig in and hopefully have organizations compromise or get together, figure out some sort of solution or long-term plan. … We don’t know what the solution is, but we want to be part of some of it.”
