Alice In Chains’ new album Rainier Fog sold 30,079 copies in its first week in the United States and debuted at #11 according to Hits Daily Double. It’s unclear what streaming numbers are, which will boost overall numbers, as Billboard’s report which accounts for those did not mention Alice In Chains, so they could chart slightly higher or lower on Billboard’s list based on those numbers.
Billboard reports BTS bows at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with Love Yourself: Answer, garnering the K-pop group their second leader on the list after Love Yourself: Tear, which dropped earlier in 2018.
The new album — the third in the South Korean boy band’s Love Yourself trilogy — arrives atop the list with 185,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Aug. 30 according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 141,000 were in traditional album sales.
Travis Scott, Drake, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, Ozuna, XXXTenacion, Juice Wrld, and Cardi B also charted above Alice In Chains according to Hits Daily Double.
2013’s The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 (the band’s highest chart position since 1995’s Alice in Chains, which debuted at No. 1), selling 61,000 copies in its first week of release. Based on the state of rock in 2018, the Rainier Fog numbers have to be seen as a good debut, though below the numbers of the previous album. 2009’s Black Gives Way to Blue debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200, selling 126,000 in its first week
