Red Hot Chili Peppers only performed live on time this year at a private memorial event in February. The lineup for the show was unique, with Anthony Kiedis on vocals, Flea on bass, John Frusciante on guitar, and Stephen Perkins from Jane’s Addiction on drums.

It was Frusciante’s first live performance with RHCP in 12 years, and it featured Perkins filling in for Chad Smith on drums.

Perkins looked back at the performance in a new tweet, “Happy Sunday-11 months ago•I was bashing away w/the RHCP-‘Not for Great Men’ by Gang Of Four-I sat in while Chad was out of town.”

FourOdells posted on Reddit about RHCP’s future, “If we’re lucky one last great album. Something that captures all that the band is but in a new way, and shows how talented and versatile as musicians they all are. Musically I’m hoping for something that is recognizably RHCP but isn’t afraid to do completely new things that show off all of their musical influences.

If we’re not lucky, it’ll be another unadventurous middle of the road record like the Getaway, a big tour where they play the same set list they played in 2007 with maybe a new single put in and then they’ll retire on a low note.”

Babyadamdesu added, “Couple albums, wish it was with Josh but my first time seeing them, perhaps Pluralone becomes an opening act and contributes to the new albums. As I said, I’m a Josh fan but am very excited to see what John has in store, and more Lakers titles as a fellow Lakers fan, which means more Flea national anthems.”
