This past Monday (March 31st), Kid Rock, Bill Maher, and UFC CEO Dana White met with President Donald Trump at the White House for dinner. Rock, who organized the meeting, said in a previous announcement about the get-together that he hoped the four of them sitting down for dinner would help to “unite” the country.
Now, in a new interview with Fox & Friends, Rock shared a few details about the gathering.
“It was so pleasant,” Rock said. “The most shocking thing to me was Bill is obviously a big liberal and hard on the president, but he’s donated a lot of money to other politicians, Biden, Clinton, Obama…[Maher] had never been to the White House. The president was so gracious.”
Despite Rock’s claims that Maher had “never been to the White House,” the comedian and “Real Time with Bill Maher” host had actually interviewed former President Barack Obama in the Roosevelt Room in 2016.
Rock continued, giving some insight into what they talked about over dinner.
“We talked about things we had in common…ending wokeness [and] securing the border. The president asked [Maher] what he thought about policy, going on with Iran and Israel…it blew my mind,” Rock told the network.
“Nothing happens if people don’t break bread together and meet face-to-face,” he added.
While Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, was hopeful that the meeting would be a step towards uniting the country, Trump wasn’t as convinced.
“I really didn’t like the idea much and don’t like it much now, but thought it would be interesting,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social before the gathering. He continued, calling Maher “a man who has been unjustifiably critical of anything, or anyone.”
“It might be fun or, it might not, but you will be the first to know!” he added.
