Robert Plant recently explained why he declined to participate in Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell concert “Back to the Beginning.” He shared his reasoning in a statement covered by Mojo4Music.
The Led Zeppelin frontman addressed his decision to turn down the invitation. He revealed his current disconnect from that musical world. He said,
“I said [to] Tony [Iommi], ‘I’d love to come, but I can’t come.’ I just can’t. I’m not saying that I’d rather hang out with Peter Gabriel or Youssou N’Dour, but I don’t know anything about what’s going on in that world now, at all.”
Plant emphasized that his decision wasn’t based on criticism of the heavy metal scene. He continued,
“I don’t decry it, I’ve got nothing against it. It’s just I found these other places that are so rich.”
