Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth revived The Roth Show a few months ago, and he’s definitely made some news with it. With the LGBTQ community in record numbers, David Lee Roth discussed the first time he discovered lesbians on his podcast during a recent episode. A Van Halen icon was devastated in the hospital after witnessing a bad shooting. Here, Roth tells a story about the first time he discovered lesbians growing up in Pasadena, California. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments.
Roth: I grew up in the time when you had to have a magazine or Uncle Saul told you about a stack of magazines or you discovered Uncle Saul’s stack of magazines in the proverbial yet not so proverbial basement of the house up on Rockland Boulevard in Lynn, Massachusetts. I’m just making this up. Most of it – allegedly. We all have that experience and you had to go with a flashlight to discover what women looked like [without clothes on].
Eddie Van Halen making an emotional Michael Jackson claim was revealed yesterday. Roth continued:
Roth: Oh my God, this was a time when every magazine stand had a section. You know, the Bungalow News here in Pasadena had everything in terms of magazines – sports, trucking and [fire arms] which have always been popular. In addition, you would have outdoor magazines. Then you would progressively get more “Men’s World,” Argosy and then it almost became pulped, captured, and tortured by [Fidel] Castro’s all lesbian [intimacy] team. It sounds like a weekend to me! Do you speak Spanish? Let’s get captured! [Laughs]
