The fifth annual Hot Stove Cool Music benefit concert took place to at the Metro in Chicago over the weekend to raise funds and awareness for nonprofit agencies supporting disadvantaged youth. Headlining the benefit concert were Liz Phair and the ever-funky JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, but the big surprise of the night was Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder. Vedder performed a set with Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin and a variety of people from the world of baseball, including Chicago Cubs President Theo Epstein, Cubs manager Joe Maddon, and New York Yankees legend Bernie Williams.

Vedder’s set included “Better Man, “Hard Sun,” and “Rockin’ in the Free World.” Ed’s history with Chamberlin dates back to 1991, when Pearl Jam and The Smashing Pumpkins opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers on a leg of the Blood Sugar Sex Magik tour.

Vedder also took part in an epic crowd surfing selfie. Check out video of it below!
