Former Creed frontman Scott Stapp discussed how Foo Fighters’ 2011 hit “Walk” lyrically reflects how he has felt overcoming his drug addiction.

“You’re shattered dude, you’re broken. Really, for me, coming out of those situations, I really didn’t feel a connection with myself. ‘Who am I? Things just don’t feel right, I don’t feel like myself.’ There are so many different elements who make up who we are that cause us to feel like ourselves.

There’s our confidence, our experiences in life that have been positive, our relationships with people, our interactions with people, and many other things that make us who we are. When you’re coming out of those situations, every single one of those things has been completely destroyed. I think the Foo Fighters had a song ‘Learning to Walk Again.’ I don’t know the name of the song, but the line I remember from the song was ‘learning to walk again.’

I don’t know the name of the song, that could be it, but I don’t think so, I think that’s just a lyric. That’s exactly how it feels, all of a sudden, everything has changed, and you’re relearning not only who you are, but how you assimilate into life. It’s a process man, it takes time.”
