Stevie Young Hospitalised Ahead Of AC/DC Buenos Aires Shows
AC/DC guitarist Stevie Young has been hospitalised in Buenos Aires just days before the band’s run of stadium dates in the Argentine capital, raising questions about whether the shows will proceed as planned on the South American leg of the “Power Up” tour.
Reuters reported that a spokesperson said Young was admitted “out of an abundance of caution” and is undergoing a full battery of tests, adding that he is doing well, in good spirits, and “looking forward to getting on stage on Monday.”
AC/DC are scheduled to play Buenos Aires on March 23, March 27 and March 31, with the update arriving on Thursday, March 19. Young, 69, has been the band’s rhythm guitarist on tour and in the studio since stepping in for his uncle, late AC/DC co-founder Mr. Malcolm Young.
The situation also lands amid ongoing attention around the group’s touring future, including prior Alternative Nation coverage suggesting AC/DC could be nearing a farewell moment at a run of final shows as the band’s current cycle continues.
For now, the band’s statement indicates optimism that Young will be fit to perform, with further clarity expected as medical testing continues ahead of Monday’s planned return to the stage.
