AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson recently teased an unfinished new country song of his on a ‘Life on the Road’ television special with Dolly Parton. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments.
Johnson first sang the unreleased song, “Falling in love with the one that you’re kissing, while the one that you’re missing is gone.”
Parton responded, “Oh, that’s great.”
Johnson added, “That’s as far as I got.”
Parton shot back, “We’ll have to finish that together sometime.”
Johnson then discussed Parton growing up with many siblings, and how it must have been difficult to get attention.
“I was thinking there was 12 of them, how did anybody notice you?”
Parton responded, “I was the fourth down, I have a sister and two brothers older, and there’s eight children younger. I was in that spot where mom and daddy loved us all the same, we only got paid attention to if we were in trouble or we were sick. I started writing these songs when I was very young, and when people would come to our house, Mom would say, ‘Go get that guitar and sing that song you wrote.’ So I started seeing that I got attention.”
Johnson quipped, “I thought my name was Hugh until I was 9, because my father would say, ‘You, do that!’”
A story recently surfaced about Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl telling a big name that he should be a guest singer with AC/DC during the period where Axl Rose replaced Brian Johnson in 2016 after he had hearing issues. Johnson, Phil Rudd, and Cliff Williams are rumored to be back in the band with new material coming.
